Late Life Lessons, part infinity

A surprise debit for 1253.60 was initiated against my personal checking account, for my now defunct business account, which filed for bankruptcy in March.  Apparently my lawyer, whom I dislike intensely, did not file the proper paperwork, advising said bank about the bankruptcy.  Hence, the account is still active and accruing monthly interest because of this, and that debit was to satisfy the late interest payments.  

I made a trip to my local TD Bank, where I spent 2 hours trying to find out what that debit was in the first place, as there were no notes, and no indication of who pulled the funds.  The bank employees must wait on hold at the same phone numbers us peons must, and after much confusion, we finally reached the Loan Officer, who explained that the bank was never notified that the account was in bankruptcy. 

Can you say Pissed Off boys and girls?

Three calls, 2 texts, and several emails to my lawyer resulted in an email saying I am out of the office on July 19.    

I needed some support, guidance, and reached out to my financial advisor, who in the last few years seems to be overwhelmed with mid life events, sandwiched between aging and ill parents, and teenage people coming and going across the world at different times. Most of our recent conversations involve him explaining his father’s care needs, which kid is doing what, and then addresses few of my concerns.  He’s pawned me off to an associate, I’ve become one of those too-demanding clients.

My accountant referred me to someone who can repair my credit, and offered little support of any type.  Now I know, if it doesn’t involve taxes, don’t contact him. 

Why do I CARE so deeply about so much?

I did not “lose my temper”, or yell at anyone, though I did make some very stern statements.  And had a melt down when I got home and cried and raged at the air, why doesn’t anyone CARE about anything anymore?  

It is now crystal clear to me that in this new world, humans are a pesky sort, and even though we provide the labor, and become the consumers that fuel the whole illegitimate house of cards, business would rather not have to deal with our ilk, and have great contempt for our species.
